Wayne Hall: Discover the great natural world in 2017

It's another regular world today as 2017 starts.

So go outside when it's dim and look in stand amazed at the atmosphere of stars, planets, the moon.

You''ll be sharing the considerable delight of a young lady named Pia Curtis, 6.

Her folks, Hank and Claudia, just gave her an entryway to the stars - a telescope. Presently Pia can walk her creative ability through the perpetual star demonstrate that goes on consistently, and is our own for the looking. No charge.

What an excite to investigate the sky AND watch a little kid wonder about the universe's covering of billions of stars. "She's painting the town," says Hank, a transplant to Florida from Newburgh. "She requested this."

At 6, as you may already know. Loaded with interest.

Give a child like Pia some support to be interested and she's on that telescope for sure, visiting the star groupings and spinning far off universes with her pooch "Cheeky," a 15-year-old Pomeranian save she chose.

Call this the greatest, brightest sort of present. Wrapped in a billion stars.

The more children of any age that let their brains focus on the normal world the happier we are on the grounds that there's continually something going ahead out there that is might be straightforward yet magnificent.

What's more, the more we find out about our common world, the more we think about ourselves. All things considered, New Year's is a tremendous timeout, when we can get it together on the normal world.

For me that implied a "who knew?" disclosure about deer.

They cherish birdseed. To such an extent that they are considered flying creature feeder freeloaders who additionally get harsh with feeder plate.

Truth be told, my enormous post-Christmas show was viewing a major deer slurping costly dark oil sunflower seeds from the feeder 12 feet from my home. The nerve! That is to say, I forget apples for the deer. I hurl a couple of modest bunches of dried corn when it's truly unpleasant out there.

Also, or you think our association with creatures is our own alone, I give you this mental postcard from a gas station proprietor from Pakistan.

When I got some information about that is nation's feathered creatures, he quickly said, "Gracious yes, in Pakistan there are numerous, numerous, a lot of wonderful flying creatures."

Make that 786 types of winged creatures local to Pakistan. (You can find it.)

In the mean time, little Pia will filter for Jupiter and Mars.

All things considered, New Year's Day is about recharges, taking a few to get back some composure, evolving center, changing feelings.

Untamed life's tremendous leverage is straightforward. They're generally in the now. Display each moment. An opossum never tries to be a raccoon. Winged creatures don't attempt to walk much. Ants would prefer choose they not to swim a considerable measure.

Focus in 2017 to nature. There's parts going on that will flabbergast you.

Listen to Hank Curtis.

"Claudia and I purchased Pia a starter telescope and tripod that (his better half Claudia found a superb application of the considerable number of heavenly bodies for $1.99.) It's fantastic what this present day world offers us."

Kids get truly snared.

Consider, for instance, a child nuts about stars who grew up to be Neil deGrasse Tyson, chief of the American Museum of Natural History-based Hayden Planetarium.
